WOD with GOD

As we begin our day, do thoughts of everything you have to do start popping up in your head?  Many of us plan for days ahead or even weeks.  We should welcome every day with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.  What might seem insignificant to you could be really important to the Lord.  Every day is full of possibilities.  Our job is submit ourselves to the Lord and allow Him to work through us.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:34

Is your glass half full or half empty?  We often lose sight of our blessings and focus on the frustrations instead.  If you tend to always focus on the negative in your life, you will be a negative person and miss out on what God has for you.  We are  all tempted to complain about the minor frustrations of everyday living.  Train yourself to think of all your blessings and thank God for them.  You will be a happier person!

Do everything without grumbling or arguing,  so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.
Philippians 2:14-15

Do you feel overwhelmed by the press of everyday life?  We are all extremely busy with our schedules.  We forget to slow down long enough to spend time with God.  If we are frantically searching for God’s direction, are we slowing down long enough to get directions?  Instead of turning over our thoughts and prayers to Him, we may lean into our own understanding.  Our wisdom is limited to what God can do.  Take time to stop and open you heart to God.

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised.
Psalm 113:3

Do you ever look around at the details of God’s creation?  We are often so distracted by everyday life we don’t stop and notice the beauty that surrounds us.  Living in the mountains, we are surrounded by God’s majesty .  Have you ever wondered how an artist chooses their palette for a picture?  Think about how God fashioned our universe.  Landscapes are different everywhere, the colors, textures, the climates, what vegetation grows there.  Then think about the animal life.  In the mountains we have deer, bear, turkeys, etc.. In the ocean the sharks, sting rays, dolphins, even the sand dollars are amazing with their intricate detail.  All of creation is amazing and what is even more amazing is the Creator.  His greatest creation is us.  He knows each and everyone of us.  In Matthew 10:30,”But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”   I have kids and I don’t even know this about them but their Creator does.   Have you ever thought about your hand print?  You are the only one with that print.  Doesn’t that amaze you?  Take the time to praise God for his creation.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.  Psalm 19:1

We were never promised life was going to be easy.  Often when we are found facing adversity, that is when we are closet to God.  There is a quote by Rick Warren, “You’ll never know that God is all you need until God is all you’ve got.”  You may be facing something right now or can look back at times of trouble in your life.  Did you call on God for help or try to handle it on your own.  Tough times are temporary but God’s love is not.  Remember this for the future and remember that God always works things out in His own way and in His own time.

In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the worldJohn 16:33

Psalm 23 is a favorite for many people.  As the Lord’s children, surely goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our life.  We will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  We can rest in this fact and know our eternal home is in heaven. There is a hymn that has these words in it, What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see.  When I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace.  When He takes me by the hand and leads me to the Promised Land, What a Day, Glorious Day That Will Be!

Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Often we get in a hurry and always feel pressed for time.  We do it even in our prayer life.  We have a hard time waiting on the Lord.  We live in a world where everything is at the touch of our fingertips.  Just know when we are praying we are not praying to the One who is confined by this earth and time, He created it.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present
your requests to God
Phillipians 4:6

Overcoming disbeleif is hard.  Many of us struggle giving 100% of our beleif to God.  We struggle with thinking if He can handle our problems.  Maybe if we keep a hold of something to worry about, it gives us some sense of control.  The truth is we have no control. Our only choice is to trust.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,  and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength  he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 1:18-20

10Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

When you think of idolatry what comes to mind?  In Sunday school as a child we were told the story about the golden calf and how the Israelites worshiped the idol.  Idolatry can be in many forms other than a golden calf.  What takes lordship in your life?  Is it work, family, food, money, material possessions….  If something is taking precedence over our Lord and Savior in our life, we won’t have a peace.  Because nothing will ever take the place of God.  We have been chosen as believers to be His own.

“The giant step in the walk of faith is the one we take when we decide God no longer is a part of our lives.  He is our life”.~Beth Moore

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.
I, even I, am the Lord,
and apart from me there is no savior.
I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—
I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God.”
Isaiah 43:10-12

People have questioned when Christ’s return is for years and years.  In Matthew, No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with the hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.” “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” (Matthew 24:36, 40 & 42)

The truth is every day we are closer to His return which means Satan is put more in a time bind for his destruction.  In Revelation 12:12, “He is filled with fury, because  he knows his time is short.”  Isn’t it great to know the God we serve is never in a time constraint.  I love  Isaiah 66:1, This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?

Remember this if you feel like the heat is being turned up in your life and never doubt what a mighty God we serve. Earth is His footstool.   We have to put on the full armor every day and fight the good fight.

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4
