Character is who we are when we are alone.  Often our character can be a false impression when we around others.  The traits that form our nature are often displayed behind closed doors.  Do we always have the right heart and say things that glorify God?  God knows our heart and who we are all the time.  We cannot hide anything from Him.

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Matthew 7:17

The word defence is defined as, resistance against danger, attack, or harm; protection
or a person or thing that provides such resistance .  The Lord is our defence from the evil that surrounds us and our family.
We should always pray that protection every day.

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king
Psalm 89:15-18

This story of the Sand Dollar is something many people don’t know.  We always try to find these when we go to the beach.
So, if you find one now you will you know the great story this beautiful shell tells….

The Legend of the Sand Dollar

There’s a lovely little legend that I would like to tell,
of the birth and death of Jesus,
found in this lowly shell.

If you examine closely,
you’ll see that you find here,
four nail holes and a fifth one,
made by a Roman’s spear.

On one side the Easter lily,
its center is the star,
that appeared unto the shepherds
and led them from afar.

The Christmas Poinsettia
etched on the other side,
reminds us of His birthday,
our happy Christmastide.

Now break the center open,
and here you will release,
the five white doves awaiting,
to spread Good Will and Peace.

This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me,
to help us spread His Gospel,
through all Eternity.
The five slits representing the wounds on Christ when on the cross, the Easter lily with a star in the middle representing
the star of Bethlehem and on the back is the outline of a Poinsettia, the Christmas flower. The Legend of the Sand Dollar also
tells of the 5 dove’s that are inside and how when the sand dollar is broken open it spreads good will and peace.

Do you ever feel like you have mental block?  Nothing makes sense and it is hard to make decisions.  When our earthly priorities prioritize our life, we start to have problems.  When God is our priority he makes every thing fall into place.  Our relationship shouldn’t be squeezing in some time here and there.  He is our priority and there is no confusion because He makes it clear for us.

Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
Psalm 25:12

Does hope ever run out?  Do you feel like some days you are on short supply?  What causes us to give up on our goals, rather big or small?  When we pray about our decisions and constantly place our hope in God, we will succeed.  We are transformed by the renewing of our mind through Christ.  Don’t look back in the past and strive forward.  God is never in short supply of hope.  He is like a well of water that never goes dry, we just fail to go to him when we are thirsty.

But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. Psalms 71:14

We develop endurance when we work out everyday. Every day you get stronger, breathe better, your performance and endurance improves.  When we take a week off or sometimes longer, we come back and feel like we are going to die. It is the same with our spiritual endurance.  It only improves with daily time spent strengthening our faith with God.  When we take time away from God, our performance in life weakens.  We allow our circumstances to weigh us down, we can’t breathe because our faith is low and we have allowed fear and worry to creep in.  The best way to keep you spiritual endurance at its peak performance is don’t miss a day!  Feed your heart, soul and mind with the Truth of God and stay close to Him.

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
 and my portion forever.
Psalms 73:26

The word that comes to mind when the news is on the t.v. and your hear the reporter is desensitize.  Our culture has become so desensitized.

The definition of desensitize:  1. To render insensitive or less sensitive.2. Immunology To make (an individual) nonreactive or insensitive to an antigen.3. To make emotionally insensitive or unresponsive, as by long exposure or repeated shocks:

You hear of the economy(loss of  jobs), weather, a child being murdered all in one breath.  They usually say,”now to the next headline….”  We have become so insensitive to death and destruction because we are exposed to it everyday.  There is no shock factor anymore.  Our emotional response has become so callous to what our grandparents, parents responses were.  Satan uses this in our life to accept things that God says are unacceptable.

in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.  2 Corinthians 2:11

Spending time with God is the most important thing will do in our day, and in our entire life.  Often schedules, family, work, chores take precedence over that time.  Don’t let it.  It seems as if it is our time with God is often the hardest time to find.  Earnestly desire to be used by God, rather than to use God.  Our time is precious with our Father and His guidance in our life.

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Psalm 36:7

Moses in Exodus 33:18, asked God, “show me your glory.”  We are surrounded by God’s glory every day, but do yearn for his greatness to be revealed in our life.  Do we come to him everyday and beg to see Him.  Is our focus on ourselves or God?  If we focus on what the world predicts for our future, it can look pretty gloomy.  But if we focus on God, it brightens our day.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.
Psalm 108:5

Sometimes when we face our future, do we look at with hope or fear?  When we focus on God, He is the lamp unto our feet and light to our path.  We dishonor God when we worry because it shows that we don’t trust God.  Corrie ten Boom stated, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strength.”

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34
