Humilty is the opposite of pride. Pride is a natural characteristic of human nature but humility is a characteristic of our Lord and Savior.  If he was prideful he would have never humbled himself to become sin for us and die on the cross.  If we glorify anything in our life apart from the Lord we are being prideful because of him we have life.

“It is to be no longer always noticing yourself and how you are doing and how you are being treated. It is “blessed self-forgetfulness.” ~C.S. Lewis

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”~Matthew 5:3

When does God’s peace become our peace? When do you let Him rule your heart. If you are struggling with peace in your life, what are you chasing after to give you peace? The world has nothing to offer you that is an everlasting peace. You may think there are things that you would help you feel better but don’t buy into it. They will leave you bankrupt of peace and leave you in despair. There is only one who can give you the peace that last and that is God.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

We just finished a Youth Revival at our church and all the teenagers gave their testimonies.  It was an encouragement to see young people speak of how the Lord had burdened their hearts to be saved.  They knew when they were ready for that decision and they said it was the best thing they ever did.  They all had a look of peace and assurance while they gave their testimony.  No matter what they face in life they have the blessed assurance that they are the Lord’s.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8

Do you have a weak stomach?  Do you wonder how doctors do it?  Some of us can handle certain things better than others.  It is the same way with our compassion.  Who do you have compassion for? Everyone is wired differently and certain things cause them to grieve more than others. Is it a sick child, homeless person, bullying? God made our hearts different for a reason. He made us different from anyone else. Pay attention to what causes your heart to ache and that may be your outreach.

From heaven the LORD looks down
and sees all mankind;
he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do.
Psalm 33:13,15

Why is it that we are so close to Lord in our trials and then when things get better we allow ourselves to get farther away from Him?  Do you think that people that have never had anything go wrong in their life, appreciate the good. Sometimes we don’t know how to appreciate a good day until we have a bad one. If everything was smooth sailing all the time, we would probably get too sure of ourselves. If you have had a lot of trials in your life, the bible tells us to rejoice.  In Isaiah 48:10,  See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.  Our afflictions draw the impurities out and cause us to be totally dependent on the Lord.

“Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”
Romans 5:3-5

Do we take God at His word? When you ask for forgiveness, do you believe He hears you and forgives you? If you re-confess the same sin, are you struggling with believing you’ve been forgiven. You have to totally break yourself from the sin and truly repent. Then you will live in the freedom of forgiveness.

When God forgives, He forgets.  He buries our sins in the sea and puts a sign on the shore saying, “No Fishing Allowed.”
Corrie ten Boom

“He prays to God and finds favor with him,
he sees God’s face and shouts for joy;
he is restored by God to his righteous state.”
Job 33:26

Self-control is something we exercise everyday in our life. How much we eat, how much we exercise, how much money we spend, etc… Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit. It is hard to keep every area of our life balanced. But, if we are not careful, lack of self-control can bring damage to our health and well-being.

“Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.” Proverbs 25:28

Have you ever experienced moments of praise and worship in your life and if so how did it affect your heart? Do you desire to have that fellowship? Do you feel that it is essential in your walk with God? Praise reminds us who God is. Praise also reminds us of who we are. It helps keep things in perspective. We have to have a humble heart and acknowledge how great God is.

“Ah Lord God! behold, thou has made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.”
Jeremiah 32:17

Grace is God’s unmerited favor toward sinful humanity. Do you ever realize how bad we need God’s grace? God’s grace is what we are saved by when we believe in Him. Grace is a beautiful thing and we should thank God every day and realize that His grace is sufficient.

“He is so rich in kindneess and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.”
Ephesians 1:7

How do you feel when your clothes are dirty? Have you ever been in a situation when you didn’t have a clean pair of clothes for a more than one day? When you get a shower and put on clean smelling clothes, don’t you feel better. The same is with our sin. We feel better when we get rid of it and clothe ourselves clean. God makes us a new creature in Him. We put of the old things and put on the new.

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness
.
Ephesians 4:22-24
