The wisdom of silence comes when take time to spend in God’s peace. We have to take the time to have a personal relationship with Him and be sensitive to his voice. The stresses of everyday living can rob us of this time. Confusion is not from the Lord. He gives us direction and guidance. If we don’t have that, are we taking the time to commune with our Savior? It should be done before we start our day so we are equipped for lies ahead.

My soul, wait patiently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.
Psalm 62:5

Are you content with what God has given you or does the grass always look greener on the other side?  If you are always thinking,” I have this, then I will be happy.”  Then when you get to that level you find something else that will make you even happier.  Do you wake up and feel joy and peace in your life?  If not, search your heart and ask God to help you.  True happiness comes from the Lord.  There are many examples in the bible about men or women that were never satisfied with what the Lord had blessed them with and then they missed out on the blessing.

“Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.”
Psalm 119:35

The word character has a few different meanings.  The first meaning the dictionary gives for character is: a distinguishing feature, characteristic.  We all have different characteristics that make us who we are.  Have you ever thought about what characteristics make God who he is?  Here are some different names of God that will remind you of His characteristics.  These are precious names, hold them close to your heart.

Jehovah-raah- the shepherd who guides
Jehovah-jireh- the Lord who provides
Jehovah-shalom- the Lord is peace
Jehovah-rophe- the Lord who heals
Jehovah-nissi- the Lord is my banner that guides

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
  Proverbs 18:10

Do you ever feel like a hamster running on one of those wheels?  No matter how hard we work it seems as if we are at the same place we started.  How do we measure our success?  The Lord’s way and our way are totally different.  We typically measure it by worldy gains, but God measures it by His gains.    We excel in His eyes when we serve Him by loving others and doing right.  God doesn’t care what is in our bank account or what we drive or what street we live on.  What matters is, are we living out His commandments?  If you feel like your running a rat race, what are you striving for?

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men Colossians 3:23

Did you know that God knows our needs before we ask Him?  He knows everything about us.  God reveals his knowledge through His word.  There is no problem so perplexed that God can’t handle.  We have to go in faith to our Father and ask Him for help.  Jesus says,” Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and feeds them.  Of how much more value are you than the birds?”  Luke 12:24

Mother’s Day is a day we celebrate our mothers and all that they do.  Mothers have a very hard job.  I attended a Women of Faith conference and one of the speakers did a skit about moms and all the different hats moms wear.  The accountant, the cook, the chauffeur, the fan, the nurse, the wife, etc..  Most moms can relate to this or you can think of how much your mother did for you growing up.

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.  Proverbs 14:1

Do feel like you have grown as a Christian or stayed at the same level?  How do we grow as Christians?  Satan desires to keep us small and ineffective but God wants us to grow.  What keeps you from growing?  Ask God to show you and help you overcome these obstacles.

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.  Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
2 Thessalonians 1:3-4

Once you become God’s child, nothing can separate us from God’s love. We might make decisions that place farther from Him, but he never distances himself.  We are the ones that draw away and allow circumstances to change our heart.  But God is always the same.  Do you believe that? He gave up His only Son for us all. He gave us Christ. Many of us have suffered heartache of losing someone. You don’t ever have to worry about losing God. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. That is the one and only things you count on in this life!

“If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”

What is your central motivating factor every day? Do you pray in the morning before you start your day? When making decisions do consult God first? Are we so rushed we don’t think about God when we get up? We always feel pressed to make a decision without praying because we can’t wait on the Lord. The psalmist wrote in chapter 139:23, “Search me God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” Trust God and search Him and you will have your answer.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

Most of our obstacles in life are mental. We have to overcome fears and anxieties. Many people are hesitant to do a box jump. The box looks so high and we are not sure of our proprioception. Most of what we do in CrossFit is breaking past those mental barriers, of I can’t. Many people surpassed the height they thought they could. So how do we know when we should go out on a limb or hug the trunk?  God tells us to fear nothing but Him.  If we hold fast to His word, he will guide our path.

For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.
1 Chronicles 16:25-26
