February is here! Finally after a long month of January we begin a new month. Tomorrow is ground hog day. ” According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks.”wikipedia
After all the snow and ice and the cancellation of school for a week some parents would pay the furry little creature if he would predict an early spring. Its funny how we don’t how to react when we are shut down. Who would have ever guessed Atlanta could ever be shut down? When we have control ripped out of our fingertips we freak out. But isn’t it false reassurance to ever think we had control to begin with? The only one that has control over the forces of nature is the creator. It humbles us back into our place of trusting the Lord. You look at pictures of the all the cars stranded on the interstate. Left abandoned because there was no place to go, a thought crossed my mind. If we are alive to see to when Christ comes back for those who have called on his name and accepted him in their life, this picture would be very similar. Many people on Facebook were describing it as looking like the a scene from the “Walking Dead”. I think it will be very similar as described in Matthew a scene that many of us have wondered what will it be like when the Lord descends from heaven and everyone will know it is Christ. It will be a global vision that no one can deny. Those left behind will be in anguish and wonder where all the people have gone. Just like the images of cars abandoned, people will be gone.
“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.” Matthew 24:30-31
