What is oppression?  Oppression is the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner.  It can also be defined as an act or instance of oppressing, the state of being oppressed, and the feeling of being heavily burdened, mentally or physically, by troubles, adverse conditions, and anxiety.  This definition seems to sum it up for most Americans right now.  There is a heavy burden on everyone.  Everyone has something in their life that weighs heavy on them.  We know as Christians that God will carry our yoke.  We have to recognize that we are targets for Satan.  He enjoys our misery and pinpoints certain areas of our life that are weak where he can wiggle in.  When you ask Christ in your life, the Holy Spririt resides in you.  You can break from these strongholds that opress you by calling out to the One who saved you.  Christ can break you from Satan’s clutches and allow you live in freedom.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Luke 4:18-19
