Tuesday 5.14.13

The purpose of this devotional is to strengthen those who read it spiritually.  Most of us involved in working out are doing this to become stronger and have better health.  We redefine fit by being healthy in what we eat and how we work out.  So, how do we redefine fit spiritually?  The bible talks about spiritual nutrition,  In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again.  You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.  But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (Hebrews 5:12-14)

We are to progress in God’s word and learn and apply it to our life.  We use it to help others.  As newborns in Christ we live on milk but as we grow we should become more hungry.  Our appetite grows and we are eating solid food.  How many adults do you see at lunch drinking out of a baby bottle?  Protein shakes don’t count. We have to eat good food to have strength.  We are challenged in life and the more we face we need to be strong in God’s word.

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
 Matthew 4:4
