In this passage out of 2 Corinthians 5:17-19, it talks about reconciliation  through Christ.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

We just celebrated Christmas.  I passed a sign in someone’s yard that read, KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS.  It made me reflect on my own actions and attitude toward the holiday and how we get so wrapped up in the gift giving then focusing on what happened on Christmas.  That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ.  He loved us so much that he sent his son to earth.  Because of sin and what Adam and Eve did when they disobeyed the Lord, he had a plan of salvation.  God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. It is a gift that was paid with the blood of Jesus Christ.

At the stroke of midnight we will flip into 2014.  There is nothing we can do to change 2013.  Focus on your future and I love how this passage reads,if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone and the new is here! Only through Christ are we truly reconciled.

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sinRomans 6:6
