In the third chapter of John, Jesus is teaching Nicodemus about the meaning of being born again. I remember hearing my dad say he thought people were crazy when they talked about being born again. As a non-believer and never reading the bible, that sounded absurd. But, when the Holy Spirit started to deal with him and his salvation, it was a man looking in the mirror for the first time. Seeing the sin in his life and knowing that Jesus died on the cross to wipe our sins away. Often people are deceived about their life and where they place God in it. Blessed assurance is knowing that if God came back today, where would you be? Jesus said no one will see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. ” For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. ” 1 Peter 1:23 Through our Lord and Savior we have an imperishable future with him.
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
