Thursday 8.25.11

Most all schools are back in session now.  There is always a bittersweet feeling when school starts back.  For parents we are letting go of our control.  Our children are able to go on their own and be independant.  They make new friends and learn new things.  Letting go and let them grow up.  Our job as parents is to pray.  Pray for safety, pray for good decisions and pray they will be a light to those around them for God’s word.  There is someone who loves our children more than us and that is God.

Max Lucado wrote, “Fear turns some parents into paranoid prison guards who monitor every minute, check the background of every friend.  They stifle growth and communicate distrust.  A family with no breathing room suffocates a child.”

Rise during the night and cry out.
Pour out your hearts like water to the Lord.
Lift up your hands to him in prayer,
      pleading for your children.
Lamentations 2:19
