Thursday 4.28.11

We watched the news this morning and witness devastation all around us.  I don’t know of an outbreak of tornadoes in our close by areas quite like this.  It is very sobering and heartbreaking to hear of the number of deaths and see the destruction that took place.  In the midst of devastation, we are to humble ourselves and draw close to the Lord.  We discover in doing this how much He loves us.  He tells us to cast our anxiety on him because he loves us.  Knowing that we should praise God in all things and doing it are two different things.  Take time to praise the Lord for his mercy on our area because we never know when it might be our home or family that is in the path of destruction.

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.  And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.  To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen
1 Peter 5:6-11
