Being weak is not a goal. We all want to be strong and we work out to maintain strength and stay healthy. We were made in God’s image and our bodies are a temple when we receive him in our life. His Holy Spirit resides within our hearts feeding our body and mind. We all know we could be injured in a second and then our “strength” is not what it was. We never know when when illness, injury or some catastrophic event could change our body forever. Then where do you draw your strength from? Paul talks about his thorn in 2 Corinthians 12, Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
Don’t ever feel like you are so strong that you don’t need the Lord. He supplies us with the strength to function and he could take it away at any time. Some people don’t understand why would God do that? Because He is more concerned about your soul then a body that was never meant to live forever. What is your thorn? You may not have one now but we never know what the future holds. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
