Saturday 9.4.10

Have you ever felt like you have gotten too big for your britches?  Do you remember when you were younger and your parents disciplined you for being disrespectful?  Even though the discipline was not fun at the time, you have to admit you deserved it.  Why do you think our parents did that?  Our desire as parents is to raise our children to be responsible adults.  Adults who have compassion for others and want to live right.

Remember this when you are going through a hard time, God could be using it in your life so they you could reap a peaceful harvest.  God loves us and wants us to grow in him and live by his word for our protection.

“My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don ‘t give up when he corrects you.  For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”
Heberews 12:5-6

I can think back to an old basketball coach that drove me crazy. Disciplined us repeatedly. However, I can look back and see how that shaped me as a man. Root of discipline is disciple. This is how we become disciples. In church today we studied another Hebrews verse (5:8-9)…”Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10and was designated by God to be high priest…”

We have to continually suffer and be disciplined into the perfection of Christ.
