Have you ever heard that you are to rejoice in all things? It is easy to rejoice in good times but what about the bad? When we get a promotion, find our soul mate, our children graduate from high school, we rejoice!! When our home is destroyed by a tornado, our child lays in a hospital bed, we lose our job, we rejoice????? How do you rejoice in the hard times, the painful times, the devasting times??
Being gracious to the Lord all the time means despite the devastion, there is always the cross. The cross represents victory and that our life was spared by God’s only Son. If there is nothing on this earth you can find to be positive about, be postive about this. Christ is not of this world and is not bound by it. He controls all things and has a great plan for those who love Him and trust Him.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Are you sad because summer is coming to an end? Do the days fly off the calendar? Do you sit and wonder what happened to yesterday or do you embrace today with excitement and possibility? There is nothing we can do with time but make the best of it. Don’t live in the past, Don’t dread the future, put live in the present and take each day at a time. Start your day off in the word of God not the word of man. Live by God’s promises, not humans’ fears.
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm118:24
This is something that we all struggle with. Where do we start? Luci Swindoll wrote this and I think we can all identify with it.
Do you travel? I do! A lot! And there are certain things I have to take on every trip. I’ve learned first to work on the knowns—cosmetics, underwear, medications, pajamas, and night-light (I never travel without a night-light). Then I move to clothes, shoes, and accessories, depending on the season, engagement, and destination. It finally comes down to a science. Starting with what I know (in any dilemma) is helpful and will ultimately get the job done.
Starting points of any endeavor can be debilitating. We don’t want to start something because it seems too hard, too involved, and too much work. Whether it’s writing a term paper, building a house, saving money, losing weight, or packing for a trip, we don’t know where to begin—so we don’t.
Life’s highway is littered with people who had good intentions but never punched the start button. I know a few people like this, and their questions are always the same: “How did you do that?” “How do you always finish projects?” “How did you plan that far-fetched vacation to that out-of-the-way spot?” The answer to each of these is the same—start. Make it an effort not to focus on the little things that cause us to get so upset and frazzled. Make it an effort to focus on God. When we focus on Him we are trusting in His grand plan for our life. Pray for your faith to be increased and daily trust in Him for all things.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Phillipians 4:8
Do you ever feel like things don’t make sense. If we keep an eternal perspective we understand that we may not have the answers for everything but one day we will. Our trials and troubles shape us for our heavenly life.
These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing.
2 Corinthians 4:17
Have you ever ran and felt like your legs couldn’t carry you to the finish. It is all you could to do push yourself to the end. Sometimes we feel this way in life. Life can be so hard that we don’t know if we will ever make it. Remember this time on earth we are just passing through. Getting to heaven will be like crossing the finish line victoriously. If Christ is in us we will not feel comfortable in this world because it is temporary. God is bigger than any trial we will face. Place yourself in His arms everyday and He will carry you through the hard times.
Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.
1 Peter 2:11
Have you ever heard the saying,”hate the sin, not the sinner.” Romans 12:19, Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. When we are wronged by someone it is not up to us to get revenge. God knows who has hurt us and their actions were unfair. Try to keep your heart and mind focused on him and you will handle the situation in the way you are suppose to. In the right time God will impose the perfect justice on that person. Trust in His word and don’t let your emotions rule your decisions.
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in faith.
