Have you ever heard the song Van Zant sings, Help Somebody? He sings help somebody if you can and get right with the man. Which means get right with God. We all have our own struggles but as long as we are right with God that is all that matters. God is the only thing that will always be there for you, never changes, He loves us unconditionally. That doesn’t give us right to live how we want to live and just expect God to bless us. We have to stay close to him and live by his Word. Profound and simple, Get Right With The Man.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
We all worry about something in our life. We do we allow it to consume our thoughts instead of turning it over to the Lord. Often we feel as if we have more control if we worry. The truth is we are like a plane spinning out of control. Only with one direction is down unless we allow the Lord to take over and be our pilot. He tells us he will take care of us. Why do we have such little faith? When He is the one that holds the heavens and the earth in the palm of his hand. “The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. “John 3:35
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Matthew 6:28-30
If we place our hope and strength in the Lord, he will supply us with what we need. If we rely on our own strength or someone else’s we will be disappointed. We work out to feel better and get stronger. Our goal is to be fit. What is your goal to be fit spriritually? You can’t be strong in the Word if you never read it. You can’t be close to the Lord if you never talk to him. We often find ourselves quesioning God why is this happening? Instead of realizing that is the first time we took time out of our busy schedule to acknowledge him. Place your all in all in him and you won’t be disappointed.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31
In Exodus, Chapter 12 God explains to Moses and Aaron about the Passover. This was to be a that were to commemorate and generations to come. He says this month is to be for you, the first month, the first month of the year. It is all about a new beginning. Just as the New Year should be for you. A new beginning, a new start, an opportunity to do things better! When we believe and Christ and ask him for forgiveness, it gives us a clean slate. Ask for the New Year to bear fruit for the Lord and live the life he meant for his children to have.
The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. Exodus 12: 1-3
Looking back over the holidays and taking down all the decorations, I think about one of the things I struggle with is letting my kids beleive in Santa Claus. I did when I was little and while I always was taught the true meaning of Christmas, I really loved thinking I was going to be rewarded at the end of the year for being such a good child. As a parent I realize the great lengths you have to go to make kids beleive. For example, the elfs you move every morning frm place to place, explaining why there are so many different Santa Clauses out and about that time of year and my most favorite is someone has to eat a few cookies to make it look like he has been there. One day there hopes and dreams of Santa being real are crushed, probably by some other kid. Then you have to explain why you lied to them all those years. One thing I have been convicted of, am I going to great lengths make my children beleive in Christ and know that He is real and alive?
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Are you starting to think about the New Year and what is to come? Have you seen the recap of 2011 on t.v.? You watch as they hit all the highspots of the year. The big court trials, the big weddings and the big divorces. You wonder first where has the time gone? Then you think I hope my year isn’t like that. If you place your self in submission to the Lord, he will guide your steps in the New Year.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
