Why do we have such a hard time believing that we are forgiven? Often we it so hard to forget the mistakes we have made. So many people will carry this burden with them all their life. The bible tells us to throw off the weight that burdens us from running a race. Have you ever ran carrying a sand bag or a 20 lb. med ball. I guarantee you did not run as fast and it was a lot harder than if you were just running free from any weight. Ask God to help you so that you can run your race with perseverance.
“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
Have you ever heard the Natalie Grant song, “Your Great Name”? The lyrics are so good and great to listen to for encouragement. The first verse:
Lost are saved; find their way; at the sound of your great name
All condemned; feel no shame, at the sound of your great name
Every fear; has no place; at the sound of your great name
The enemy; he has to leave; at the sound of your great name
Jesus, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain for us, Son of God and Man
You are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise your great name
We get attacked through out the day and night by Satan. He tries to instill fear in us either about finances, illness, terror attacks, etc.. I love the part where it says, the enemy has to leave at the sound of your great name! We underestimate the God we serve. Because it is biblical that Satan has no ground where the Holy Spirit is. Don’t ever doubt that Jesus is worthy to be praise and trusted!
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, …Psalm 91:1-16
Success is not defined by position or pay scale but by this: doing the most what you do the best. Pursue the virtue of contentment. “Godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Tim. 6:6). When choosing or changing jobs, be careful. Consult your design. Consult your Designer. But never consult your greed.~Max Lucado
Do you love what you do? When we tell our kids what to be when they grow up, is it based on salary or satisfaction? Consult the designer that made you for a purpose, you were not created haphazardly. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Tim. 6: 10b
Examine your perspective toward life.
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:11-12
The WOD with GOD has not been updated for awhile and for that I am very sorry. Lately things have been a little crazy but that is no excuse for allowing this post to suffer. We all get busy with work, family, home chores, etc.. Sharing the Word should be on the forefront of our day, all the time. In writing the WOD with God there are times some topics are very clear about what to write about. Today is, put God first in all things. A biblical example of this and I think we can all identify with this.
In Luke 10: 38-40, As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
Martha was more concerned about keeping her house clean than listening to what the Lord had to say. Do you feel that way sometime? Our immediate response to the day is getting out the door on time, making sure everyone has their lunch, what bills do I need to pay, do we have practice today, do I need to go to the grocery store? Instead we should focus on, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.” Some of you might be thinking, how does this help? If we start in the truth that God has left us to live by will live in his word and promise and make the right decisions that will keep on the path he has set before us. Start your day enveloped in His word. Be Mary, sit at His feet. Martha gained nothing but frustration.
Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
How is your relationship to the Lord? Have you just gone through the motions and you call on him only when you need or want something. Do you wake up the in the morning and hit your knees in prayer before your day? Do you go to bed thanking him for you all He has done? Are Sundays like any other day of the week? What do we do for the Lord? We are so arrogant in our actions and take less time to just fellowship. He is our Father. He wants you to come to him but not because you feel like you can check off your list of things to do. We should desire to surround ourselves in prayer and reading the Word like air. It is our true life line because when the air runs out of our lungs on earth and none of this foolishness of day to day matters, how will we feel about our Lord and Savior then?
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
When we are staying close to the Lord and the Word we have the tools to be disciplined. Self -discipline is a fruit of the Spirit. We are more efficient in life when we are more disciplined. God delights in giving us strength to overcome our weaknesses. We all have a weakness that’s difficult to overcome. So rather it is your diet, exercise, etc.. Turn it over to God and believe He can turn our weaknesses into strengths.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57
What gives us security? Family, finances, friends, etc.. We all love our families and friends and having an income but what if it was all taken away. What would our security be? Do we believe in God to provide or do we take it upon ourselves to believe that we are actually in control of our security. The parable in Luke is a great picture of this.
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
