Are you a Martha or a Mary? This goes for men and women. The story in Luke portrays Jesus coming to Martha’s house. While Mary sat at His feet, Martha busied herself around the house picking up and preparing the meal. Martha must have made the comment to Jesus, are you not concerned that Mary is not helping me? Jesus answered, “Mary has chosen the better thing, and it will never be taken away from her”.
It is important to take care of our homes and daily duties but nothing should ever take place over sitting at the Master’s feet. Everywhere we look we see a need. We just have to be careful how to prioritize our precious time spent with God.
Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
